JetBlue Expands to Curaçao Amidst Soaring Travel Demand

JetBlue Airways is adding two new flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Curaçao International Airport (CUR) beginning February 2024. The new winter-schedule flights will increase JetBlue’s non-stop frequency to Curaçao from five flights per week to daily departures.

The added flights come as demand for travel to Curaçao continues to boom. The Caribbean island hosted 49,258 overnight, land-based travelers in August 2023, a 16 percent year-over-year increase and its second-best visitation month of the year.

Ruisandro Cijntje, Curaçao’s minister of tourism and economic development, called the new flights “a very important achievement in order to continue to enhance our tourism industry in 2024 and consequently give an impulse to our economy.”

Curaçao is a popular tourist destination for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture. The island is also home to a variety of historical and cultural attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Willemstad, the capital city.

JetBlue’s new flights will make it easier for travelers from the Northeast to reach Curaçao and experience all that the island has to offer. The flights will also provide a boost to Curaçao’s tourism industry, which is a vital part of the island’s economy.

Here are some of the reasons why Curaçao is such a popular tourist destination:

  • Stunning beaches: Curaçao is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, with soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. Popular beaches include Playa Kenepa Grandi, Playa Porto Mari, and Cas Abao Beach.
  • Vibrant culture: Curaçao is a melting pot of cultures, with influences from Dutch, African, and Caribbean heritage. This is reflected in the island’s food, music, and art.
